Mikumi is Tanzania’s most accessible national park, and for years most of the accommodation around it has competed on one thing: price. Camps in town, rooms on the highway, generators and trucks all night.
We chose a different spot — a piece of bush away from the road, facing the Mikumi mountain ridge — and a different standard. Every tent has a real bathroom, air conditioning, a private deck and a bed you will remember. Our restaurant faces the ridge. Our guides are our own, so a safari here starts the moment you finish your coffee.
The camp opened with five units and grew to ten in late 2026: the Mountain View Cabin, the Jungle Cabin, three Jungle Tents, two Mountain View Tents and three Family Tents, for up to 26 guests. It is owner-run, and small enough that we know your name and your plans.
What we care about
- Quiet. At night you hear crickets and nightjars, not the highway.
- Comfort that fits the bush. Canvas, decks and the view — with A/C and hot showers.
- Our own guides. No hand-offs to outside operators.
- Honest pricing. Breakfast included, children under 4 free, park fees included in every safari.
TODO for Gatis: add 2–3 sentences in your own voice about how the camp started, and a photo of the team. Guests book people, not tents.
